More Services

Automatic Failover

The active server is permanently monitored by a backup server (HotSpare). In case of failure, it automatically takes over all tasks — without manual intervention.

Location-Independent Failover

By default, both servers are located in the same data center. For the most extreme requirements, the backup server can be operated at a geographically separate location.

INGATE Premium Support

Support via email and phone, free 24/7 emergency hotline, personal point of contact, and highly qualified on-site personnel.

Real-Time Data Synchronization

Data is kept synchronized in real time between both nodes. In case of a failover, all data is immediately available on the HotSpare — zero data loss.

iDRAC9 & OpenManage

Both nodes feature iDRAC9 LightsOut management. KVM-over-IP, firmware updates, and proactive monitoring — without physical access.

Managed Option

Every HA setup can optionally be operated as a managed server — with regular updates, server monitoring, and failover tests.

Technical Highlights

State-of-the-art infrastructure in our data centers for your business-critical applications.

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the most important questions about High Availability servers.

What does 99.999% availability mean?
An availability of 99.999% means a maximum downtime of approximately 5 minutes per year. We achieve this through complete hardware redundancy with automatic failover.
How does the failover work?
Two identical physical servers are deployed. The operating system is virtualized and data is kept synchronized between both servers. The active server is permanently monitored by a backup server (HotSpare). In case of a hardware failure, the HotSpare immediately takes over all tasks — without manual intervention.
Can the backup server be located at a different site?
Yes. By default, both servers are located in the same data center. For the highest availability requirements, the backup server can be operated at a geographically separate location — providing protection even against complete infrastructure failures.
Which server models are available for HA?
All Dell PowerEdge models from our rootserver portfolio: R6615 (1U, NVMe), R7615 HDD (2U, SAS/SATA), and R7615 NVMe (2U, NVMe). Each model is configured as an identical 2-node setup with automatic failover.
How is data synchronized between both nodes?
Data is kept synchronized in real time between both nodes. Depending on requirements, we use DRBD for block-based replication or shared storage. In case of a failover, all data is immediately available on the HotSpare.
How is the price structured?
The HA price is exactly double the price of the respective rootserver model — since two identical servers are deployed. Traffic and IPv4 addresses are only charged once, as they are used by the active node.
Which operating systems are supported?
All major distributions: Ubuntu, Debian, CentOS, openSUSE, FreeBSD, and Windows Server. Virtualization is typically done via Proxmox VE or VMware ESXi.
Is a different hardware configuration possible?
Yes, we can configure any Dell PowerEdge system as an HA setup to your specifications. Both nodes are always configured identically. Our hardware consulting is included.
