What is a Colocation Data Center?
A colocation data center provides companies with space for their own server hardware, including redundant power, cooling, network connectivity and physical access control. You bring the hardware and keep full control over it. The building and facility infrastructure is handled by the data center operator.
Why not your own server room?
An in-house server room ties up capital in cooling, UPS and fire protection and requires ongoing maintenance. A colocation data center spreads these costs across many customers and reaches a level of security and availability that is hard to justify economically in-house.
Which options are available?
Requirements range from individual rack units through half and full racks to separate private suites. INGATE covers the entire range in the same data center, so you can grow without relocating.
What matters when choosing?
The decisive factors are certification and availability class, connectivity to internet exchanges such as DE-CIX, how power is billed and how quickly you can physically reach your hardware in case of a fault. Our Munich location offers 24x7 access and per-kWh billing.
Data protection and jurisdiction
With a colocation data center in Germany, only German and European law applies. Your data is not subject to the US Cloud Act and data processing under the GDPR can be documented without gaps.
