More Services

Automatic Health Monitoring

Continuous monitoring of all backend servers with configurable health checks (HTTP, TCP, ICMP). Unhealthy instances are automatically removed from the pool and restored when they recover.

SSL Termination & Management

SSL/TLS encryption is terminated at the load balancer. Centralized certificate management with automatic renewal. Your backend servers are relieved of the encryption workload.

Intelligent Routing

URL-based, host-based, and header-based routing for L7 load balancers. Sticky sessions via cookies. Weighted Round Robin for blue-green deployments and canary releases.

DDoS Protection & WAF

Volumetric Basic DDoS Protection included. Optional advanced L3/L4/L7 protection up to 100 Gbit/s. Web Application Firewall with OWASP rule sets against SQL Injection, XSS, and other attacks.

INGATE Premium Support

Support via email and phone, free 24x7 emergency hotline, personal point of contact, and highly qualified on-site staff.

Data Sovereignty

Your load balancers run exclusively on German infrastructure. No US Cloud Act — owner-managed GmbH. Operated in ISO 27001 certified data centers in Munich.

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the most important questions about Managed Load Balancers.

What is a Managed Load Balancer?
A Managed Load Balancer automatically distributes incoming network traffic across multiple backend servers. As a managed service, we handle installation, configuration, monitoring, and maintenance — you benefit from high availability and optimal performance without having to worry about the infrastructure.
What is the difference between L4 and L7 Load Balancing?
A Layer 4 (Network) Load Balancer operates at the TCP/UDP level and forwards connections based on IP addresses and ports — ideal for high throughput and protocol-agnostic load distribution. A Layer 7 (Application) Load Balancer analyzes HTTP/HTTPS traffic and can intelligently route based on URLs, headers, cookies, or host names. L7 also enables SSL termination, content-based routing, and rate limiting.
Which balancing algorithms are supported?
We support Round Robin, Least Connections, IP Hash (Sticky Sessions), and Weighted Round Robin. The optimal algorithm depends on your use case — our team is happy to advise you on the selection and configuration.
How does SSL termination work?
With SSL termination enabled, TLS encryption is decrypted at the load balancer. Traffic between the load balancer and backend servers can then be transmitted unencrypted (faster) or re-encrypted (more secure). You manage your certificates centrally at the load balancer — relieving the load on your backend servers.
What does the Web Application Firewall (WAF) provide?
The WAF protects your web applications against OWASP Top 10 attacks such as SQL Injection, Cross-Site Scripting (XSS), CSRF, and other threats. The WAF analyzes HTTP traffic in real time and blocks malicious requests before they reach your backend servers. Rule sets are continuously updated.
How does high availability work?
With HA enabled, your load balancer runs as an active-passive cluster: one active node processes traffic, and a passive node automatically takes over within seconds in case of failure. Optionally, both nodes can be distributed across different availability zones (Multi-AZ, min. 30 km apart).
What is Geo-Routing?
Geo-Routing directs requests to the nearest backend server based on the geographic location of the user. This reduces latency, improves the user experience, and enables compliance with regional requirements (e.g., GDPR-compliant data processing in specific regions).
Are there any hidden costs?
No. Our pricing is transparent and includes health checks, monitoring, and alerting. Basic DDoS Protection is included. There are no additional charges for requests or connections — you only pay for the configured resources and add-ons.
How is billing handled?
All resources are billed monthly. You individually configure Load Balancer Type, Traffic, SSL Certificates, Backend Targets, and Add-ons, and only pay for what you use. No minimum contract term.
What are egress costs?
Egress costs are fees that cloud providers charge for outbound data traffic — that is, for data leaving the data center toward the internet or other networks. Every API response, every download, every video stream, and every backup replication generates egress traffic. Most hyperscalers charge these costs per GB, which can quickly become a significant and hard-to-predict cost factor. Especially with data-intensive applications, these fees add up rapidly.
Does INGATE charge egress costs?
No. At INGATE, outbound data traffic is already included in the price — no per-GB fees, no hidden surcharges. This makes your costs fully predictable and transparent. Especially with data-intensive applications like CDN, streaming, large APIs, or backup replication, this results in a massive cost advantage over the major hyperscalers.
How high are egress costs at hyperscalers?
AWS charges approx. $0.09/GB (first 10 TB), Azure approx. $0.087/GB, and Google Cloud approx. $0.12/GB. A company transferring 10 TB per month pays around $900–1,200/month for outbound traffic alone. At 100 TB, that rises to $8,000–9,000+/month. These costs are hard to predict as they depend on user behavior, API call volume, and traffic patterns — complicating TCO calculations and often leading to unexpectedly high bills ("bill shock"). At INGATE, traffic is included, making total costs fully predictable from day one.
