What does "dedicated cores" mean?
All INGATE cloud servers feature dedicated CPU cores. Every booked vCore is an exclusively assigned physical core — no shared resources, no overcommitment. This provides consistent, predictable performance for every workload.
Which processors are used?
We exclusively use modern AMD EPYC processors of the 4th and 5th generation (Turin & Genoa). These offer excellent single-thread performance, high core density, and integrated security features such as AMD SEV for encrypted virtualization.
How does an AMD EPYC cloud server differ from a dedicated server?
In both cases you get physical AMD EPYC cores exclusively assigned to you. With a cloud server you book individual cores and change the configuration at any time, sharing the underlying hardware with other tenants. With a dedicated root server the entire machine is yours, including BIOS access and a free choice of hypervisor. Choose the cloud for flexibility, the root server for full hardware control.
How is an AMD EPYC server billed?
Per resource rather than per package: dedicated AMD EPYC cores, memory, storage and public IPv4 addresses are billed individually. You put the configuration together in the configurator and see the monthly price immediately. Traffic is fully included and there are no egress charges.
Is there a vendor lock-in?
No. Our cloud is fully based on open-source technology (RedHat KVM/Ceph). There are no proprietary dependencies. Switching or migrating is possible at any time.
Can I change resources at any time?
Yes. You can scale vCores, RAM, and storage in real time at any time — up and down. Billing adjusts automatically.
Which operating systems are available?
All major Linux distributions (Ubuntu, Debian, CentOS, Rocky Linux, SUSE) as well as Windows Server. Custom ISO images can also be used.
Can I migrate existing VMs from VMware?
Yes. We support automated import of virtual machines from VMware environments (ESXi, vCenter/vSphere). Both Windows and Linux VMs can be imported directly via a storage plugin — including automatic conversion of disk formats. On request, we handle the complete migration for you.
Is the INGATE Cloud an alternative to VMware vSphere?
Yes. Our cloud is based on KVM and Ceph — proven open-source technology with no licensing costs and no vendor lock-in. Following Broadcom's massive price increases, we offer affected companies a free migration consultation and automated tools for importing existing VMware VMs (VMDK import). Your workloads run on dedicated AMD EPYC cores — no overcommitment and no VMware minimum requirement of 72 cores.
What are egress costs?
Egress costs are fees that cloud providers charge for outgoing data traffic — i.e., for data leaving the data center toward the internet or other networks. Every API response, every download, every video stream, and every backup replication generates egress traffic. Most hyperscalers charge these costs per GB, which can quickly become a significant and hard-to-calculate cost factor. Especially with data-intensive applications, these fees add up rapidly.
Does INGATE charge egress costs?
No. At INGATE, outgoing data traffic is already included in the price — no per-GB fees, no hidden surcharges. This makes your costs fully predictable and transparent. Especially with data-intensive applications like CDN, streaming, large APIs, or backup replication, this results in a massive cost advantage over the major hyperscalers.
How high are egress costs at hyperscalers?
AWS charges approximately $0.09/GB (first 10 TB), Azure approximately $0.087/GB, and Google Cloud approximately $0.12/GB. A company transferring 10 TB per month pays approximately $900–1,200/month for outgoing traffic alone. At 100 TB, it is already $8,000–9,000+/month. These costs are difficult to predict as they depend on user behavior, API call volumes, and traffic patterns — complicating TCO calculations and frequently leading to unexpectedly high bills ("bill shock"). At INGATE, traffic is included, making total costs fully calculable from day one.
Are there peering problems with Deutsche Telekom or Vodafone?
No. Unlike many cloud providers that rely on cheap transit, we use premium carriers with direct peerings to Deutsche Telekom and Vodafone. Your applications reach over 67% of German internet users via the fastest route — without detours through congested exchange points. We are bound by professional secrecy — do you offer an agreement under § 203 StGB?
Yes. In addition to the data processing agreement we sign a confidentiality undertaking including the instruction on criminal liability under § 203 (4) of the German Criminal Code. It covers every member of staff with potential access as well as any subcontractors, and applies without time limit. For law firms the agreement under § 43e BRAO is added, signed before provisioning.
Is INGATE certified?
Yes. INGATE is ISO/IEC 27001:2022 certified by British Assessment Bureau, a UKAS-accredited certification body. INGATE is also certified to ISO/IEC 27017:2015 for information security in cloud services. The ISMS covers all INGATE products and services.
